Our Story
McKellip Sod Farm started with a simple idea: that healthy, well-grown grass can transform a space, and that good business starts with good people. Over the years, our operation has grown, but our values remain rooted in hard work, honesty, and treating every customer right.
RMF Farms, known to most as McKellip Sod Farm, has deep roots in Nampa, Idaho. We’ve been farming here for over 45 years, with a strong foundation built on a love for the land and commitment to quality.
While our current focus is on premium sod, our history includes growing sugar beets, wheat, mint, and a variety of specialty seed crops. We raised sugar beets for 39 years before retiring the crop in 2019 to put more attention into sod production.

In 1996, we installed a mint still that continues to operate today for both our own mint and for neighboring farms. In 1997, we planted our first sod fields, and since then sod farming has become a cornerstone of our farm. In 2024, we added RTF®(Rhizomatous Tall Fescue) to our lineup, and 2025 marks the first year it’s available to our customers.
Today, we continue to raise wheat, corn, and mint, while providing beautiful, natural grass sod for homes, businesses, and public spaces across the Treasure Valley.

Relationships Matter
We believe in being available, helpful, and fair—because we know long-term customers are built on trust.
Meet the Owners
Hi, I’m Bob McKellip, a proud Idaho native. My wife, Susan, is originally from Kansas, but we’ve made our home and raised our family right here in Nampa, Idaho. We’ve been farming in this beautiful valley for over 45 years. For us, farming isn’t just a job—it’s a way of life, built on hard work, a deep connection to the land, and relationships with the incredible people in our community.
Our farming journey began in 1979, and we’ve been grateful for every opportunity and friendship along the way. In 1997, we expanded into sod farming, combining our love for agriculture with the satisfaction of helping people grow something beautiful. It’s been a rewarding chapter in our life’s work, and we’re proud to keep it going with the same values we started with.
